It’s 9:21 pm and everyone in the Evans house is sleeping. I started off the day with a business lunch in historic Roswell – the Salt Factory to be specific. What was scheduled to be ninety minutes lasted three hours. We discussed the future of healthcare…exciting and fascinating. We, as a country, have to figure this out and fortunately, a ton of creative and fearless minds are giving it their all. And I have the pleasure of knowing some of them. I aim to know all of them.
I watched Yale beat the hell out of Penn. During commercial breaks I watched the pros chase around the white ball on Sea Island. And between horse rides on my back and tickle fights, my kids kept me occupied. Brown beat Cornell 42-16 to go 3-3 on the season with Penn next weekend. My Dawgs had a bye week with Florida up next, but I’ll be at a dove hunt.
Corinne and I watched Something’s Gotta Give in the evening. I’ve seen this movie and Director Nancy Meyers films a thousand times. I know…take my “Man Card” away…we’re not supposed to like these flicks, but Ms. Meyers is so damn talented. I flipped to the Mississippi State-Kentucky game, but I quit once State started pulling away.
Now I’m drinking a 22oz Corona and watching An American in Paris – GREAT film! Ole Miss is at LSU and Bama is at Tennessee as I write this. BLASPHEMY!!! SEC football games are on and I’m watching a 1951 movie about an artist in Paris??? Maybe it is here in the deep South, but that’s who I am: a University of Georgia graduate who occasionally prefers an old movie to football. That being said, if the Dawgs were playing it’d be a whole ‘nother thing, but we’re not…so I’ll enjoy a giant Mexican beer in lieu of the obligatory bourbon while Gene Kelly sings and dances.
And speaking about painting, I did a lot of it during my undergraduate years at Georgia. Of all the courses I took, my favorites were on art and music – albeit they constituted a small percentage. Nonetheless, that’s why college is important – the exposure to a variety of subjects is invaluable.
Sincerely, The Graduate (at Brown)
Post Script – to date I’ve raised $5,000 of the $90,000 I need to attend Brown. That’s about 6%. Also, I’m watching the Ole Miss-LSU game. It’s WAY too close of a game not to.
